If I could cure any disease I would cure multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a disease in your plasma cells. Plasma cells are what make antibodies to fight infections. Multiple myeloma can effect your kidneys, bones, immune system, and your red blood cell count.

Facts about multiple myeloma:
  • Men are more likely than women to get Multiple myeloma
  • In 2008 according to Illinois State Cancer Registry 740 cases of multiple myeloma were recorded just in the state of Illinois. 390 were men and 350 were women, and about 470 of these people will die from multiple myeloma.
  • If you are over weight or over the age of 60 you  have a larger risk of developing multiple myeloma.
  • If your bone marrow is taken for a test then they look at your chromosomes. For example changes in chromosome 13 will lower your chance of survival.
  • Multiple myeloma is the second most common cancer of the blood and the very hardest to treat

To help someone with multiple myeloma you can talk with them and be there for them when they need support. People diagnosed with this disease are emotionally drained to. You can also help them by running errands for  them. People with multiple myeloma break bones easy, because the cancer softens the bone causing it to break easy. And that makes it hard for people to get around and do things.
